Gender-based violence (GBV) remains one of the most pervasive human rights violations of our time and is endemic in Kenya. In particular, violence against women and girls is worryingly high. For example, the Kenya Demographic Health Survey 2014 found that 40 percent of women aged 15-49 who had once been married had experienced either physical or sexual violence at the hands of their partner or spouse.
