Our Loation

This policy brief draws on the findings, analysis and recommendations of research carried out in Dadaab, Kenya, in 2019-2020.  It explores the vulnerability of refugee and host community settings in relation to violent extremism (VE). In particular, it manages to distinguish the different experiences of women and men in the context of radicalisation, recruitment and acceptance of VE.  Stepping away from traditional analysis of push and pull factors towards extremist groups, the research instead looks into the complex and vulnerable conditions in Dadaab from a structural, social and individual perspective.
