Man commits suicide over wives infidelity
A 40-year old man on Thursday night committed suicide in Migori County following alleged “excessive infidelity” of his two wives. The trader had closed his shop at Bondo Nyironge trading centre at 8pm and went straight to his home, a few kilometres away.
“ Upon entering his house, he ordered all the children to leave the sitting room and go to their bedroom after which he hanged himself on a rope,” said Mr Alfred Makoma, the Migori police boss.
He said the two women remained behind at the trading centre where they were also running other businesses.
“Apparently, their husband did not tell them that he was going to hang himself,” noted Mr Makoma.
Villagers said the trader had been having endless quarrels with his two wives over alleged unfaithfulness.
“ He has been saying publicly that the women were having many extra-martial affairs and this strained his marriage,” said Mr Polycarp Onyango, a neighbour.
Marriage experts have been warning that young women in polygamous marriages were prone to extra-marital affairs if their spouses failed to meet their conjugal obligations.
The body of the man was moved to the Migori District Hospital mortuary by the police as shocked villagers thronged the home to have a glimpse of the body.
