Suggest a recipient for the International Gender Equality Prize
Who is your champion of gender equality?
You can now nominate this champion as a recipient for the International Gender Equality Prize. The nominee can be an individual or organization making important strides in the advancement of gender equality around the world.
The International Gender Equality Prize will be awarded to a distinguished defender and builder of equality. The recipient will identify a cause, an innovative endeavor or action to which prize money will be granted. The prize value is €150,000.
Our independent prize committee will select the recipient of the 2017 prize among all entries received by 31 May, 2017.
WHY A PRIZE? WHY FINLAND?
Gender equality is one of Finland’s most core values and gender equality was one of the defining ways we built our country to the success of today. Because 2017 is Finland’s 100th birthday the Finnish government decided to establish the first International
Gender Equality Prize.
There are many organizations and individuals making important strides in the advancement of gender equality around the world. Our hope is that this prize will help by providing additional support and a new platform for the game changers in gender equality. We also want to further promote discussion about gender equality in a global context.
HOW IT WORKS
The award is apolitical by nature, and granted by the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland based on a recommendation by an independent prize committee.
We want to make sure that the prize benefits the women and girls who need our help the most, so we are asking the winner to nominate an Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligible cause or project for the allocation of the prize money.
