Our Loation

Economic Pillar

Under this priority area, the UN in Kenya will support the Government of Kenya, civil society organizations, NGOs and other non-state actors to ensure that the most vulnerable groups (including young girls and women) are educated, healthy, well nourished, have clean water and sanitation, are protected, empowered and live in decent homes within resilient communities under 7 key areas including

  1. Education and training including sports, culture and the Arts
  2. Health
  3. Nutrition
  4. HIV/AIDS
  5. WASH
  6. Social protection and prevention and response to violence against women and children
  7. Population, urbanization and housing
  8. Resilience

This is aligned to several national development plans including MTP III of Vision 2030 and the Government of Kenya’s ‘Big Four’ Priorities (a) Food and Nutrition Security; (b) Housing; and (c) Universal Health Coverage, while contributing to a solid foundation upon which to achieve the fourth priority: (d) Manufacturing, through supporting the development of an appropriately trained, healthy and secure workforce, well prepared to meet the needs of the developing manufacturing industry.
